Dr Sharma is one of the most eminent and experienced interventionists available north of Delhi. Dr. V. P. Sharma is a graduate of Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi. Subsequent to his completion of MBBS in 1980, he did his M.D (Medicine) from R.M.L. Hospital, Delhi and D.M. (Cardiology) from G. B. Pant Hospital, Delhi University. He has been practicing Cardiology, both non-invasive and interventional since 1988. He is also credited with having published over 34 papers in national and international medical journals. Dr. Sharma has many firsts to his credit as far as interventions are concerned. Like, Started Balloon Mitral Valvotomy (MBV) with Inoue balloon in India (1988), AICD Implant in Punjab (1996), first to do Coronary work by Radial Approach in Punjab (1996), first to do Primary PTCA in Cardiogenic Shock, AV fistula & Endovascular (Non-Surgical) repair of Leaking Aortic Aneurysm in Punjab (1996). He was also among the first to start non-surgical closure of Congenital Heart Disease (PDA, ASD and VSD) in Punjab in the private sector. Dr. V. P. For last 12 years he was successfully running his own super-speciality cardiac centre by the name of Shriram Cardiac Centre in Jalandhar. With his able leadership and guidance, it has been recognised as one of the best cardiac centre in this region.
