In this event, Mr. Deepak Bali, General Secretary of the self-help organization Punjab Jagriti Manch, who is also the cultural advisor to the Chief Minister of Delhi and spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party Himachal, participated as the chief guest.
The main objective of this conference was to make people aware and motivated towards Organ Donation.
Every year in India, about 5 lakh people lose their lives due to lack of organs, while on the other hand, more than 1.5 lakh people suffer brain stem death and their organs go waste. If everyone voluntarily donates organs after death, then the lives of more than 5 lakh people can be saved every year. For this, the Government of India established the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which promotes and manages transplant and organ donation programs at the state and regional levels.
In India, from 4990 transplants in the year 2013 to 15000 transplants in the year 2023 were done, which are far less than the organs required by patients for transplant. For this, people at large should come forward to pledge and donate organs to save precious lives.
More than 30 people present at the conference took pledge of organ donation and also got registered for organ donation, one healthy organ donor can provide different organs to eight patients.
Expert doctors of Shrimann Superspeciality Hospital explained various topics to the people present in detail and inspired them for organ donation. Mainly Dr. Rajeev Bhatia, Dr. Harmeet Pal Singh, Dr. Ajay Marwaha, Dr. Kusum Thakur, Dr. Anmol Singh Rai, Dr. Onkar Singh, Dr. Umar Maqbool, and Chief guest Mr. Deepak Bali were present in the conference.
